Wood burning and defra approved stoves

Recently there has been a lot of bad publicity on the internet regarding the use of coal and burning wood and that stoves are to be banned.

This is simply un true and misleading, the facts are that it will no longer be allowed to burn house coal on stoves, but smokeless coal is perfectly fine.

Regarding the burning of wood, wood can not be burnt in smoke controlled zones unless the stove is defra approved this has been the case for some time, this is not a problem though as several stoves are defra approved to burn wood in smoke controlled zones.

We supply several defra approved stoves on our sister site wooburningstoves.uk.com

To light the stove you are allowed to burn kindling for an amount of time.

The ruling on wood is that wet wood is not to be burnt and in any case it has always been advisable to burn dry wood as it burns much cleaner and more effeciently.
